The European University at St. Petersburg will host the Conference on Computational Social Science from May 14 to 16, 2026. The conference is envisioned as a new platform for interdisciplinary researchers employing computational methods to address and solve pressing societal issues.
We invite academic researchers and practitioners in the fields of computer and social sciences, network science, and complex systems analysis to participate. Our goal is to create an environment for presenting research and fostering new scientific collaborations.

Open call for Workshop Proposals
The first day of the conference will be dedicated to workshops focused on computational methods for data collection and analysis. We invite proposals for workshops that share expertise on modern approaches with the community. Priority will be given to proposals featuring hands-on activities, as well as "state-of-the-art" sessions providing an overview of the latest developments and trends in specific fields, and other topics at the intersection of social and computer sciences. The standard time slot is 3 hours (half-day); proposals for full-day (6 hours) sessions are also welcome.
Suggested Workshop Topics:
●      Collecting and Processing Heterogeneous Data: working with texts, images, social media, and sensors, and integrating them with traditional sources (surveys).
●      Quality Assessment and Reproducibility: analyzing data bias, legal and ethical aspects, recruitment best practices, and ensuring research reproducibility.
●      Advanced Analytics and Modeling: application of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI, causal inference, experimental design, and empirically calibrated simulations.
●      Integrative and Spatial Methods: combining predictive and explanatory models, working with geospatial data, and scalable analytics for urban studies.
●      Visualization and Communication: principles of data visualization and the visual communication of results.

We invite submissions in the form of an extended abstract of the proposed presentation in Word or PDF format, with a length of 3,000 to 7,000 characters.

The abstract should clearly articulate the research problem, the approach used to address it, the data and methods employed, and the results obtained. The inclusion of figures and tables is encouraged and does not count towards the character limit.

Please explicitly state the main novelty of the presented results compared to previously published work.

Abstracts may be submitted in Russian or English.

Submit Paper Proposals

Proposals must include the workshop topic, information about the organizers, a short abstract (up to 300 words), a rationale (goals and learning outcomes), and a description of the target audience (intended attendees and prerequisite skills). Additionally, please describe the proposed format, technical requirements (equipment), estimated duration, and the maximum number of participants. Submission Limit: The total length of the proposal must not exceed 3 pages. Acceptable formats are Word or PDF.
